Food
Oh food,
with every bite, you delight to make me sing and shout,
and as I chew the flavors through I revel in the flout
of never passing up some green pea soup, or nettle tea
or tasty mashed potatoes.
Mmmmm, the tempting smell of pumpkin pie, who can resist its goodness?!
I can’t understand how anyone would pass up soysilk nog spendidness!
And oh the fried asparagus, though stick-like and reedy
beckons me fight just for a bite of its salty oily greenness
And the scream of bright red beets, calls them to me to eat,
though slimy and thin, I just want them within
on top of my taste buds next to my teeth!
And who can to stop there! I must have baked beans
and to make it complete, broccoli fried in Balsamic vinegar
wreathed in a row of ripe tiny tomatoes
The mushrooms and sauces and pastas they call me
pleading my mouth to give them a chew
Oh, so pleasant food is, for me and for you.
Christmas Day
On Christmas morning we’ll all be pouring
over our gifts and ripping the wrapping
of presents with pride we’ll parade through the day
always with hoping that someone will say,
that looks so good on you,
Don’t you love it? Delighted!
to see you in splendor of all that so brighted-
ly fills you and me with laughter and glee
Oh Christmas day, if only you’d stay!
so that everyday would be filled with such gay.
So as we depart let us ‘member to start
tomorrow, and every next day,
to fill them with all with the joy we remember
from Christmas day in all it's splendor.
